Two Curriculum Extension Units are offered for First Grade. Students are invited to participate based on their performance in-class, their reading abilities, MAP score results and teacher recommendations. The first CEU typically begins in early December. Each class runs for approximately 8-10 weeks, with two class meetings per week.

- Today we introduced the idea of taking the words we have generated, and turning them into an alliterative sentence, for which we will develop a page of the class ABC book. If they have not done so yet, each student's job is to list as many words as they can (parents, please help) that begin with their assigned letter (they no longer need to be school-related words). Students should then use some of these words to create a "super silly sentence" using alliteration. The sentence should be between 5-10 words long.
